Keyed system
1. Determine the number of employees that you will want on this system. Take into account potential future growth at your facility. Each employee should have a unique key code that is theirs alone.
2. Then choose one of the following Safety Keying System:
• Keyed Different
• Keyed Alike
• Master Keyed
• Keyed Alike Master Keyed
3. Determine how many employees will need to get more than one safety padlock for lockout.
Those employees should get KA (Keyed alike) padlocks. That way they will only have to carry a single key to open their safety padlocks. Otherwise they will have to fumble with a key chain full of keys.
Important : Each employee should have a unique key code that is theirs alone. Never allow multiple employees to share the same key code.
No key duplication will be issued.
Key charting
According to the OSHA standard of “1 employee - 1 pad-lock - 1 key”, it is important that there is no unwarranted duplication of keys.
As the number of locks increase, so does the complexity of tracking keys. Master Lock Company is the expert at managing key changes and can keep a complete record of the progressive key codes assigned and manufactured into your padlocks.
Request this special service with your next order. You’ll receive a unique Commercial User I.D. number. Be sure to include this I.D. number with each subsequent order, so that all additional locks will be manufactured to ensure no duplicate keys in your safety lockout system.
